"Beware" Photos: Stefan Rabura 1998 INSIDE Live Review9. Feb 1996 Neuruppin "JFZ Live Club"Since the debut CD "Room Full Of Mirrors" already left a good impression on me. I was more than in suspense to see if INSIDE would be able to present the intensity and high quality of their music live. The chances were good as the band members themselves have been making music for awhile, and as I had heard from singer Darrin Huss I was to expect a few surprises. As the club filled to capacity the concert began. The stage suddenly became a hall of mirrors where the trip through a land of illusions would take place. "Labyrinth" started the set and the energy of the performance sprang instantly into the audience so that the first row was already dancing and the atmosphere took over the whole club. From the start Darrin was into it body and soul and knew how to create the mood of the songs through his gestures and vocals. Angela as vocal partner couln't have been a better choice as already proven on CD. On stage in duet it was all the more fantastic. The repertoire consisted of the whole CD with the small exception of "Puppets Have No Tears" but therefore included the aforementioned surprises. The first one being "November Day" a more midtempo piece that sounded very good. Followed by a cover of The Doors "Riders On The Storm" to which even the grunge kiddies couldn't avoid movement inspired by the grandios performance. Still there was more as the encore presented an INSIDE version of PSYCHE's hit "Unveiling The Secret" as well as The Eternal Afflict's "San Diego" which although Darrin wasn't certain would, came out nearly as well as the original if not better. A furious end climaxed with "Playground" finishing off the rest of the concert audience and leaving them well spent. The around ninety minute "Room Full Of Mirrors" experience made the long drive worth the while and therefore I can highly recommend that you see INSIDE on their following tour.
